Why did bridging Sepolia to Amoy result in WETH?
I attempted to bridge my Sepolia Ethereum to the Polygon Amoy network using the Polygon portal. However, I ended up receiving wrapped Ethereum (WETH) instead of ETH. Is this the expected outcome, and if so, why am I getting WETH on this network?

2Indeed, most of the Layer 2 networks or sidechains like Polygon use WETH instead of ETH because it mirrors the ERC-20 token standard required for compatibility with smart contracts. Thus, whenever you bridge ETH, it converts to WETH.
It's because the Polygon Amoy network only supports the wrapped version of Ethereum (WETH) on the Proof of Stake (PoS) mainnet & Amoy. When you bridge Ethereum (ETH) to these networks, it automatically converts to WETH. There currently isn't an option to have ETH on PoS/Amoy, so getting WETH is the correct and expected result.
