What happens when you send wrapped wETH from a DeFi wallet to an exchange or network, and how do you manage network differences?

When you send wrapped wETH (WETH) from a DeFi wallet to an exchange, it doesn't automatically unwrap. The exchange will handle the WETH as is, and manual unwrapping is needed if you want it as ETH.

Failing to bridge to the correct network could cause your token to get stuck, although some exchanges might recover lost tokens, others might not.

An example of this problem is sending 50XSGD through the Polygon network to a CoinHako wallet that only supports ERC20, which likely resulted in the tokens being lost.

Sending WETH through another network (such as Cronos or Base) to an exchange that supports only Polygon may not work directly due to different token standards. You need to bridge WETH to the target network before sending it to the exchange.
