How to add your token to Polygon Portal bridge?

Hi everyone! I've deployed my token on the Polygon POS network, but I'm looking to bridge it through the Polygon Portal bridge. I was wondering how I can add my token to the bridge? Initially, I thought all bridges would just handle deployment for me, but from what I understand, the bridging might only work with tokens originally deployed on Ethereum. Any tips on how this process works would be much appreciated!

If you want to have your token available for usage on both chains, one option is to deploy an equivalent contract on Ethereum. If using the same contract address is necessary, you could use the CREATE2 opcode, which isn't an option since you haven't used it. A secondary approach involves contacting the team via a mapping request through the portal's support, directing you to submit a request for having your Polygon Deployed Token recognized in the Polygon Portal bridge.

The Polygon Portal bridge usually requires the root token contract to be on Ethereum for mapping it to Polygon POS. This allows for seamless bridging of your token. If your token is deployed directly on the Polygon POS network, you might face issues since the typical mechanism involves locking tokens on the origin chain (Ethereum) and minting or burning tokens on the destination chain (Polygon).
